Enrollment lottery rescheduled for JuneThis year's enrollment lottery, usually scheduled for the first week in May, has been rescheduled to the first Friday in June, as decided by the Plumas Charter School board of directors at its April 20 meeting. The lottery is used to determine which students will attend PCS if enrollment demand in a specific class exceeds capacity.

Plumas Charter School is a California public school, open to all students residing in Plumas or adjacent counties. Enrollment is available all year. However, each spring the school holds a pre-enrollment period in which families express interest in attending PCS in the following year.

The pre-enrollment results give PCS administrators and staff an idea of how many students will be attending the school by grade and learning center (the Quincy Learning Center serves grades TK-12, the Greenville Learning Center serves grades TK-6, Indian Valley Academy in Taylorsville serves grades 7-12, and the Chester Learning Center serves grades TK-12).

Priority is given to returning students, siblings of current students, and children of PCS staff (up to 10% of the total student population). If the number of new students interested in attending exceeds the capacity for a given class, placement will be determined by a public lottery and subsequent waiting list. Though all PCS classes are subject to the lottery, only some will require it in a given year, depending on community interest and need.
