PCS Quincy students offer their thanks for a special screening of "Ode to Muir."Plumas Charter School students in grades seven through 10 show their thanks to Friends of Plumas Wilderness after a special screening of the film “Ode to Muir” on Friday, Jan. 11. Friends of Plumas Wilderness covered the costs associated with the screening of Teton Gravity’s 2018 chronicle of an extreme snowboarding adventure in the John Muir Wilderness. Along the way, students learned about Muir’s life and legacy, the philosophy behind wilderness, current environmental policy, and renewable energy. Teachers said these students’ concern for the environment means that this film was particularly meaningful for them. “We are now in the mountains and they are in us,” said Muir—appropriate words for Quincy’s mountain kids!
