An '80s prom fundraiser is planned for Plumas Charter School.

Mountain Valley Parents’ Club, Plumas Charter School’s parent-teacher organization, is hosting “I’ve Had the Time of My Life,” an ’80s prom-themed fundraiser, in support of the school.

The event is set for Friday, Oct. 5, and it will run from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Tulsa Scott building at the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds in Quincy. Attendance is open to anyone 21 and up (IDs will be checked at the door).

The ’80s prom will feature awards for prom king and queen, best costume, and best dancer, as well as appetizers, dancing to a DJ, door prizes, a no-host bar, and prom photos.

“’80s prom attire is preferred,” said organizer Lindsey Kimzey, “but all ’80s outfits will work!”

Tickets are $20 per person, and can be purchased in Quincy at Quincy Provisions/Carey Candy Co. and Barn Owl Books. Proceeds from the event support the purchase of educational technology for Plumas Charter School learning centers in Quincy, Indian Valley, and Chester.

“We have donations so far from so many amazing local businesses," said Kimzey. "Everyone has been so generous!"

Because PCS operates under a nonprofit corporation, all donations are tax-deductible. For more information, contact office manager Maggie Hennessy at 530-283-3851, ext. 111.
